Maryland moved into the Associated Press college football top 25 poll for the first time in six seasons after beating West Virginia, 32-20, on Saturday.

The Terps, ranked 25th in the poll, have a 4-0 overall record moving into this week's match-up against Virginia. The game, which will be played at Byrd Stadium in College Park, Md., will decide who takes over the top spot in ACC standings.

  • Clemson, which dropped out of the top 25 last week after losing to the Cavaliers on Sept. 22, moved back into the 19th position after beating Georgia Tech on Saturday, 47-44. Clemson quarterback Woodrow Dantzler rushed for 164 yards and two TDs and passed for 254 yards and another two scores in the victory. Georgia Tech, previously the ACC leader and ninth-ranked team in the country, fell to 17th after the loss.

    Florida State moved up two spots to 16th after beating Wake Forest on Saturday, 48-24.

    Virginia and North Carolina also received votes, 16 and 11 respectively, but failed to crack the top 25.

    After this week's play, the nation's top five teams remained unchanged. Miami retained the top ranking after beating Pittsburgh 43-31 on Thursday. Florida, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Texas followed the Hurricanes.

    Seminole tickets available

    The Athletic Ticket Office announced on Monday that about 700 tickets are still available for the Cavaliers' Oct. 20 match-up against Florida State.

    The tickets, priced at $30 for reserved seating, will be available Thursday at the Virginia Athletic Ticket Office. The office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
