Virginia's Travis Watson received the ACC player of the week award as a result of strong play in games with N.C. State and Clemson. The junior center totaled 49 points and 22 rebounds over the two games, including a career-high 29 points against N.C. State.
During 70 minutes of play, Watson went 14-24 from the field and 20-23 from the free throw line, and earned his 12th and 13th double-doubles of the season.
Four Cavaliers drafted by professional soccer
Both the Virginia men's and women's soccer teams will be sending players to the professional ranks this year, courtesy of the 2002 MLS SuperDraft and the WUSA draft.
Virginia junior forward Kyle Martino went to the Columbus Crew in the first round as the eighth pick, senior midfielder Steve Totten was picked up by the Chicago Fire in the third round as the 26th player overall and senior defender Marshall Leonard was picked up by the New England Revolution as the 45th pick of the draft. Lindsey was a first-round draft pick by the San Diego Spirit.
Tennis teams stay strong
Both the men's and women's tennis teams posted wins on the road this weekend.
The men faced George Washington, where Stephen Nolen and Michael Duquette each dominated in the first two singles spots and teamed up to win at No. 1 doubles.
The women took on Virginia Tech. Henriette Williams and Jennifer Tuchband won the top two singles matches, but fell at No. 1 doubles.
