Sports in Brief

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported that freshman tight end Tyree Spinner has left the football program and plans to transfer to another school following this semester, according to his father, Ronald. Tyree is the younger brother of former Virginia quarterback Bryson Spinner, who announced last year that he too was leaving the football program.

Tyree Spinner, from Fairfax, Va., redshirted in 2001. He hopes to play football with his brother, who just finished his sophomore season. The University of Richmond is the likely destination for the brothers. Richmond's football team competes in Division I-AA, so the brothers would be eligible to play without sitting out a season.
