Men's Club Soccer wins first tournament of season

The Men's Club Soccer team has successfully started the season with a 5-1 record. During the first weekend of play at the JMU Invitational, the team earned its first tournament win in two years, defeating James Madison, 4-1, East Carolina, 3-0, and No. 2 Penn State, 3-0, handing Penn State only its second defeat in two years.

Last weekend, the team traveled to Virginia Tech for the VT Club Classic where it defeated Virginia Tech's "A" team, 2-1, and the Hokies' "B" team, 3-0, and fell to No. 5 North Carolina, 2-1, in stoppage time. With the addition of several talented players and 10 returning starters from last season, this year's squad appears as strong as ever and looks forward to the regional qualifying tournament in Columbus, Ga., Oct. 18-20, where it will attempt to secure an automatic invitation to nationals. The team wishes to congratulate its new members for making it through the tough tryout process.
