Male attempting to qualify for U.S. Women's Open

Brian Kontak will try to become the first male golfer to qualify for the U.S. Women's Open.

"I'm exploring the possibility. That's all I can say. But I'm dead serious about it," Kontak said.

Just recently, Annika Sorenstam became the first woman in 58 years to qualify for a PGA event. The USGA has rules in place that would prevent Kontak from playing the event because being female is a major requirement in order to play in the U.S. Women's Open.

Kontak has five Canadian Tour Victories and just missed receiving his PGA Tour card last season.
