Holiday Eggcitement

For University students, Easter meant anything from spending time with family to suspiciously eyeing an Easter egg-making station at O'Hill.

While some students went home, others said they did nothing at all.

First-year College student Tiffany Bassford said she spent the weekend at home with her family and her boyfriend, not coming back until Monday morning.

Bassford said she did her schoolwork in advance so she wouldn't be behind.

Like Bassford, second-year Engineering student KaShauna Gill said she went home for the holiday.

"I went home and went to two church services and ate dinner with my family," Gill said. "I had a wonderful time because I hadn't seen them for a long time."

Other students made the most of the holiday right here with friends.

"We had our own Easter dinner here from KFC, and we went to the sunrise service at First Baptist," first-year College student Danielle Wilson said. "I'm used to being with my family, spending time with them, but I talked to them on the phone instead."

Second-year College student Launa Forehand said she was unable to go home for the weekend because she had a crew race on Saturday.

"I studied," Forehand said. "Usually I go home but this year between rowing and papers that are coming up it's hard."

For some students, Easter was more of an inconvenience than a celebration.

First-year College student Samantha Klein said it was difficult for Easter to fall during Passover.

"Easter has no effect on my life other than living in anguish while watching my Christian friends eat non-Kosher for Passover chocolate," Klein said.

She added that she went to Chili's with friends but was unable to eat anything.

First-year College student Rachel Bernstein said her day was fairly routine, except she could not pick up pictures she was having developed because "everything was closed."

First-year College student Luke Rothmanhad a similar experience.

"I don't really celebrate Easter, so I didn't do anything," Rothman said. "I went to buy bagels and the store was closed because it was Easter, which I hadn't realized."
