Deacons get first National ranking in 10 years

After its 38-24 upset of No. 11 N.C. State, the Wake Forest football team appeared in both top-25 polls. The Demon Deacons were No. 20 in the AP poll and No. 21 in the ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll .

With the Wolfpack,Virginia and Maryland all having suffered defeats, Wake has the second-highest ranking of any ACC team. Florida State, boasting a 2-0 record after beating Maryland, is ranked No. 10 in both polls.

The victory over N.C. State broke two long dry spells for Wake Forest. The last time the Deacons were nationally-ranked was in January of 1993. The last time Wake Forest defeated a nationally-ranked opponent was in 1999, when it topped Georgia Tech 26-23.

Funlola Fagbohun, associate director of the first year experience, describes her experience working with OTP and how she strives to create a welcoming environment for first-years during orientation and beyond. Along with her role as associate director, summer Orientation leaders and OTP staff work continually to provide a safe and memorable experience for incoming students.
