Brewster Academy (N.H.) swingman Adrian Joseph orally committed to play basketball for Virginia next fall.
The 6-foot-7, 200-pound Joseph is projected to play small forward at the collegiate level. TheInsiders.com has him ranked as the 20th-best player in the nation at that position.
Joseph took his first official visit last weekend to Charlottesville and was here for the Cavaliers' 27-24 football win over Wake Forest. He also drew interest from Georgia, Iowa, St. Joseph's and Villanova, among others.
"Of all the schools I was interested in, the head coach of Virginia showed me the most interest, and we have a good relationship," Joseph said in a Brewster Academy press release yesterday. "Virginia plays in the highest basketball conference, and they have a good academic program."
A native of Trinidad, Joseph averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds last year for Bergen Catholic (N.J.) but turned 19 on August 30, making him ineligible this season under New Jersey rules. He will play for Brewster this year with a number of Division I prospects.
Joseph joins highly-touted Philadelphia point guard Sean Singletary as members of Virginia's 2004 recruiting class. Singletary committed to Virginia over Kansas in June and was rated earlier this spring by Mike Sullivan of rivals.com as the nation's 2nd-best point guard.
