Men's, women's finalists for Wooden Award announced

Five finalists for the John R. Wooden Award, presented annually to the nation's best college basketball player, were announced yesterday. Duke's Chris Duhon and Connecticut's Emeka Okafor led the list of finalists that also included Stanford's Josh Childress, St. Joseph's Jameer Nelson and Mississippi State's Lawrence Roberts.

Five finalists have also been selected for the inaugural Women's Wooden Award. The finalists, who make up the inaugural Women's Wooden All-American team, are Duke's Alana Beard, Connecticut's Diana Taurasi, Penn State's Kelly Mazzante, Stanford's Nicole Powell and Purdue's Shereka Wright.

The winners, who are chosen by over 1,000 media and college basketball experts, will be announced Saturday at the Los Angeles Athletic Club.
