Virginia baseball coach Brian O'Connor named 11 players yesterday who committed during the National Letter of Intent early signing period as part of the team's recruiting class of 2005. The 11 high school seniors hail from nine different states and combine to form one of the top-ranked classes in the country.

The 2005 Cavalier recruiting class includes two players ranked in the top-100 overall by Baseball America and six of the top-300 prospects compiled by Baseball America/Perfect Game. The 11-player class is noted for its four right handed pitchers, two of whom were named among the top-25 by Team One Baseball.

David Adams, a middle infielder, was the 19th prospect in the country as listed by Baseball America.

The final obstacle for Virginia's recruiting class is the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft, held annually in June. Most of the 11-member class of 2005 will garner attention in the initial rounds of the draft, with the opportunity to forgo their college eligibility for a professional contract.
