Brooks, Yarbrough earn weekly ACC awards

Two Virginia players have earned ACC Player of the Week honors following No. 10 Virginia's 16-0 triumph over Maryland. Center Zac Yarbrough was named Offensive Lineman of the Week, and linebacker Ahmad Brooks shared Defensive Lineman of the Week honors with Clemson's Eric Coleman.

Yarbrough, a preseason candidate for the Rimington Award given annually to the best center in the nation, was crucial to Virginia's offensive attack on Saturday. The Cavaliers dominated Maryland's defense on the way to 295 rushing yards.

Brooks, a sophomore, led the team with six tackles and two interceptions. The picks were the first of his career. Brooks also had a key stop on consecutive short yardage situations in the first quarter.
