Virginia's Emily Harrison was the first freshman across the line this weekend at the Southeast regional, earning sixth overall. Her performance, coupled with teammate Shannon Hawrylo's 25th place finish, helped the Cavalier women earn fifth overall.
The Virginia men's team had three competitors earn All-Region honors. Sophomore Soeren Lindner finished in ninth place individually with senior Will Christian just two seconds behind in 10th. Sophomore Ryan Foster rounded out the team's honors with a 17th place finish.
Both the men's and women's cross country teams will be waiting to find out if they earned at-large bids to the NCAA Championships in Indiana Nov. 22. The men's team qualified for NCAAs last season whereas the women have not been to the competition since 2002.
