The University's Curry School of Education will extend a helping hand to Clark Elementary in Charlottesville.
The Curry School will help third- and fourth-grade students reach an 80 percent pass rate for the English Standards of Learning by the end of the 2006-2007 school year, the Daily Progress reported Monday.
Gov. Mark R Warner recently challenged colleges to reach out to at-risk schools, which contributed in part to the collaboration, the Progress reported.
"I am very happy to see the Curry School forge this relationship with Clark Elementary," Warner said in a statement.
Clark Elementary did not meet the English target of No Child Left Behind during the last school year.
