Women's Tennis names new assistant

The women's tennis program continued its rebuilding yesterday with the addition of assistant coach Troy Porco.

Porco, who spent his last eight years at the University of Auburn, joins the staff of recently-hired head coach, Mark Guilbeau. Prior to his stint at Auburn, Porco served as an assistant at the University of Miami, helping guide the Hurricanes to four Big East titles and appearances in three national championships.

Guilbeau underscored the work ethic, professionalism and love of coaching exhibited by his newest assistant and expressed optimism that Porco's presence would help the program create "the best environment and training necessary to reach the highest levels of success."

Porco led the Lady Tigers to one National Championship appearance during his tenure and was named the SEC Coach of the Year in 2002.
