The Virginia volleyball team placed third yesterday in its season-opening tournament, the Texas A&M/McDonald's Invitational. The Cavaliers lost their final match to the overall winners of the tournament, the Texas A&M Aggies, 3-0.

Sophomore outside hitters Beth Shelton and Sarah Kirkwood both were named to the All-Tournament team, while Laura Jones of Texas A&M was recognized as tournament MVP.

Virginia faces Dayton next in the opening match of the Marriot Flyer invitational Sept. 9.

Funlola Fagbohun, associate director of the first year experience, describes her experience working with OTP and how she strives to create a welcoming environment for first-years during orientation and beyond. Along with her role as associate director, summer Orientation leaders and OTP staff work continually to provide a safe and memorable experience for incoming students.
