Virginia cross-country strong at Pre-NCAA meet

The Virginia men's cross-country team, ranked 29th in the nation, upset four higher-ranked teams Saturday to finish in sixth place at the NCAA Pre-Nationals held at Terre Haute, Ind.

The Cavalier men were led by Jan Foerster, who finished 34th overall with a time of 24:23. Behind him was Ryan Foster, who finished 36th.

The Virginia women also represented well, finishing eighth overall, upsetting No. 21 Butler in the process.

Kara Scanlin led the Cavaliers, finishing in 31st place with a time of 20:59.
