Virginia kicker Connor Hughes semifinalist for Draddy Trophy

Cavalier kicker Connor Hughes is among 184 semifinalists for the 2005 Draddy Trophy, the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame announced Tuesday. Called the "academic Heisman," the award honors a player who is a leader in the classroom, on the field and in the community.

A religious studies major and sociology minor, Hughes also is a candidate for the 2005 Lou Groza Award, which is given to the nation's best kicker.
