Virginia finishes fourth in Derby

The women's golf team finished in fourth of 17 teams at The Derby Invitational in Wilmington, N.C.

No. 1 Duke led Auburn by five strokes after two rounds but faltered in the final round, losing by one stroke 879-880.

Virginia registered a 290 Sunday for a 893 (+29) total, tying the school record for lowest round. The Cavaliers made up a nine-stroke, third-round deficit to edge Tennessee by one stroke, falling short ofthird-place finisher Georgia.

Lauren Mielbrecht led Virginia, firing a 70 in the third round en route to a final score of 220. The sophomore finished seventh overall, her fourth consecutive top ten finish.
