Virginia loses to Wake Forest in ACC play

The women's tennis team ended its two-match winning streak yesterday, falling to Wake Forest in a tough loss.

The Cavaliers (8-6, 2-3 ACC) were downed by the No. 14 Demon Deacons (10-4, 4-2 ACC) in a 6-1 match.

In the sole doubles victory, the team of freshman Jennifer Stevens and sophomore Amanda Rales defeated Wake Forest's duo of sophomore Ana Jerman and freshman Sasha Kulikova at the No. 2 seed position. The Cavaliers, however, went on to lose the doubles point for the second straight match.

Virginia's point was earned in singles play when Demon Deacon senior Christine Simpson was overtaken by Rales at the No. 6 position.

The Cavaliers return to the road in their next match against Florida State in Tallahassee March 30 at 3 pm.
