Singletary declares for NBA draft Junior guard Sean Singletary announced yesterday that he will declare for the NBA draft. He also announced that he does not plan to hire an agent. The deadline to declare for the NBA draft is April 29.Having not hired an agent, Singletary reserves the right to remove his name from the draft by June 18 and return to Virginia. The draft is scheduled to begin June 28."I have discussed this situation with my family and Coach Leitao," Singletary stated in a press release. "I want to continue to consider all of my options and learn as much as I can about the process. This gives me that opportunity while retaining the option of returning to Virginia."

The Virginia guard has one season of eligibility left in NCAA basketball for the Cavaliers. In the 2006-07 season, Singletary averaged 19.0 points per game, leading the Cavaliers to a 21-11 record and a share of the ACC Championship with North Carolina.

"Sean and his family want to be sure they've considered and evaluated all of his options," Virginia coach Dave Leitao said in the release. "I understand Sean's interest in learning more about the process and feel this step will enable him to gather a great deal of information."

Virginia Men's Club Rowing wins SIRA title for third consecutive year

This past weekend in Oak Ridge, Tenn., the Virginia Men's Club Rowing team defended their Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Championship title. The Varsity eight edged out 20 teams from around the nation, including UCLA, Temple and Purdue.

"We were really pleased with our performance this past weekend -- winning for the third year in a row showcases this team's tremendous speed," senior captain Tom McCarthy said. "It also gives us substantial momentum to build on into our league and national championships in the upcoming month."
