Cavaliers head to ACC Champs

This weekend the Virginia track and field team hopes to build on its performances from throughout the season while competing in the ACC Championships in Atlanta.

The No. 21-ranked women's team is looking to improve upon last year's sixth place finish. Senior Emily Harrison will lead the distance runners following a strong performance in the Stanford Invitational. Fellow senior Billie Jo Grant is expected to be the pacesetter among the throwers.

On the men's side, Emil Heineking will look to continue his strong freshman season, having already qualified for the NCAA Regional meet with a time of 14:11.40 in the 5000 meters. Virginia's men's 4x100 team has qualified for regionals as well.

The meet started yesterday and will continue until Saturday.
