The Virginia volleyball team traveled across the country to play in the Denver Tournament this weekend. The team went 1-2 after beating Tennessee by a score of 3-2 and suffering defeats against Denver and Iowa by scores of 0-3 and 2-3, respectively.
The team quickly recovered from a disappointing effort against Denver by jumping out to a two-set lead against Tennessee, and ultimately capped off the match in the fifth and final set, thanks to a dominating performance by sophomore Kendahl Voelker, who had three kills in the last game and 10 for the match.
Riding the momentum of the win against Tennessee, Virginia again led out the match against Iowa with a 2-0 lead. Iowa, however, returned with a late surge, despite a strong performance by junior Lauren Dickson, who led the Cavaliers with 17 kills and 20 digs, and senior Shannon Davis, who made the Denver Pioneer Invitational All-Tournament Team.
