Whether it is her outlandish outfits, confusing gender or catchy songs, there is something fresh and exciting about Lady Gaga. As the recipient of three Video Music Awards, including the Best New Artist Award, Gaga only has begun to make her mark on the music industry and on Hollywood itself.

Lady Gaga (Stefani Germanotta) was born and raised in New York. She went to grade school with Paris Hilton and was admitted into the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University at 17. The star will turn 24 in March but she's not another good girl gone bad, like Britney or Lindsay. Gaga has been misbehaving all along - and her provocative star appeal, outrageous performances and naughty lyrics prove it.

For those of you who watched Gaga's bloody VMA rendition of "Paparazzi," you were probably shocked, if not mortified for her. Take a look at the "Paparazzi" music video and it will help make sense of the horror. Her performance seemed to be based on the video, where she is pushed off a balcony by her boyfriend as the paparazzi snaps pictures.

Another explanation for the show is her attention fetish: bows made out of her hair, non-human dates, etc. She admits to being "obsessively opposed to the typical" in her song "Fame," and we somehow love her for it. Fame is also the title of her 2008 breakout album, a huge success that gave her a taste of the fame she's after.

Everything about Gaga's album - other than the lyrics - is irresistible. The songs are upbeat, catchy and fun. An Amazon album review points out that "nearly every track sounds like it could be a single."

Her first hit, "Just Dance," got us all moving and put Gaga's name on the board. The scandalous "Poker Face" and "Paparazzi" videos helped her earn nine VMA nominations. "Love Game" raised eyebrows with its lyrics but kept our heads bobbing and showed us Lady Gaga is here to stay.

For you Gaga fans out there who have not had a chance to hear it, spice up your iTunes with "Eh, Eh, (Nothing Else I can Say)," "Paper Gangsta" and "Brown Eyes." Check out the "Eh, Eh" video, too; it is surprisingly modest, for Gaga. "Eh, Eh" and "Paper Gangsta" are bouncy dance tracks, while "Brown Eyes" is a jazz-like ballad that shows off Gaga's voice.

The album helped Lady Gaga win three moonmans at her first VMAs. To put that in perspective, Gaga, Beyonc
