Senior running back Keith Payne and junior cornerback Chase Minnifield have been named to the All-ACC football team. Minnifield earned a first-team selection, while Payne garnered second-team honors. These were the first career honors for both players.
With his selection, Minnifield became the first Cavalier defensive back to earn first team-honors since Anthony Poindexter in 1998. The junior finished sixth in the nation in interceptions with six on the season. His breakout game came against Miami, when he recorded two interceptions that earned him the ACC Co-Defensive Back of the Week award along with junior safety Corey Mosley. In addition, he finished the regular season with 48 tackles.
Payne became the first running back to be named to either the first or second team since Alvin Pearman in 2004. Closing out his collegiate career, the Northern Virginia native is the leading scorer in the ACC with 16 total touchdowns, including 14 rushing scores to rank third
