Gossip Girl shows her dark side in upcoming thriller

Leighton Meester does not have time for this.

That was my initial reaction when word of the Meester interview hit the tableau office. Like most of young Hollywood, Meester is an impressive case study on the art of multitasking - in today's entertainment industry, if you aren't a triple threat, then you are no threat at all.

For her part, Meester happens to be a quadruple threat: she continues to please fans as the conniving Blair on CW teen soap Gossip Girl; she starred alongside Gwyneth Paltrow in the tearjerker Country Strong this winter; she sang on the film's soundtrack; and she was recently featured in an ad campaign for upscale Italian fashion line Missoni. Meester said she did her research when preparing for her the dramatic role.

"I had the opportunity to really prepare for this and got a lot of great psychology books and information on delusion and mental disorder, especially in women," Meester said. "I had the chance to speak with different psychiatrists about the disorder, and get all kinds of information."

Despite the preparation, Meester acknowledged the difficulty of playing such a dark and unstable character.

"It was interesting and uncomfortable at the same time," she said. "I'm weird and crazy like anybody else, but this person really doesn't have control of her mind whatsoever. I wasn't able to just, between takes and in between scenes, shoot the breeze with everybody and hang out and have a blast. It wasn't the easiest thing to do, but I mean, that's what's satisfying about it."

Fans of Gossip Girl could argue that Meester's character, Blair
