Virginia senior Emily Fraser exited after the singles round of 16 at the National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in Flushing, N.Y. this weekend.
She defeated junior Nicole Bartnik of host Columbia 6-2, 6-0, during the first round but fell in her second match, dropping a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Washington senior Denise Dy. The women's singles concluded Sunday, as senior Marta Lesniak of Southern Methodist captured the title.
Fraser's Virginia teammates, meanwhile, finished play at the Kitty Harrison Invitational at Chapel Hill, N.C. Saturday, splitting singles competition on the final day with North Carolina. Senior Lindsey Hardenbergh, sophomore Caryssa Peretz and freshman Molly O'Koniewski all notched victories for the Cavaliers. Hardenbergh and junior Erin Vierra teamed up to claim the second-place award for doubles at the competition, which ran all weekend.
The event marks the end of the fall season for the Cavaliers, who will begin competition again in January.
