Long leads upstart Rams

Defensive end Chris Long headlined a strong Week Eight NFL performances by three former Virginia football players as he recorded three sacks to help the St. Louis Rams stun the New Orleans Saints 31-21.

Long led the previously punchless Rams to their first win of the season against the heavily favored Saints, and he ranks first on the team and eighth in the league with six sacks this year.

Quarterback Matt Schaub threw for 225 yards and a touchdown and scrambled for another score to help the Houston Texans defeat the Jacksonville Jaguars 24-14. Schaub's 95.9 quarterback rating this season - the seventh-best mark in the NFL - has guided the Texans to a 5-3 record and first place in the AFC South division.

Tight end Heath Miller paced the Pittsburgh Steelers with 85 receiving yards on seven catches during a 25-17 win against the New England Patriots. Miller ranks eighth among NFL tight ends with 361 receiving yards on 30 catches and also has two touchdowns on the year. Veteran Steelers linebacker James Farrior missed the game with a calf injury.
