Volleyball hires Dennis Hohenshell

Dennis Hohenshelt will replace Lee Maes as head coach of the Virginia volleyball team, Athletic Director Craig Littlepage announced yesterday. Hohenshelt comes to the Cavaliers after six seasons as first assistant coach for Penn State's women's volleyball team preceded by 10 seasons as the assistant coach for the men's volleyball team. The women's program compiled a 199-18 record with Hohenshelt as assistant coach.

"Coach Hohenshelt has a great background at one of the nation's top programs, Penn State University," Littlepage said. "We are lucky to get someone of his caliber to take over leadership of our program."

Maes resigned in November after four seasons with the team, which compiled a 10-20 overall, 4-16 conference record in 2011.
