Virginia football coach Mike London announced the Cavaliers had secured commitments from 25 recruits on National Signing Day - the first day recruits can sign binding letters of intent.
London touted the athleticism of his 2012 class, which was ranked No.5 in the ACC and No.28 in the nation by scout.com, during a celebration at John Paul Jones Arena.
"I'm very excited about this particular class," London said. "If you look at the roster, there's some height, there's some athleticism ... long, athletic type guys that can run and play multiple positions. That was one of the things we wanted to address."
London's third recruiting class should help bolster the defensive front seven while adding depth across the board to an 8-5 team which will graduate many key players this spring.
Virginia secured five-star recruit Eli Harold, a 6-foot-4, 215 pound linebacker/defensive end from Virginia Beach. He was one of 13 in-state recruits.
"Obviously [having] the number one player in the state of Virginia, one of the best defensive ends in the country here in your backyard and having the opportunity to have him sign early [is great]," London said of Harold.
The Cavaliers also received a letter of intent from 6-foot-4, 260 pound defensive end Michael Moore, the son of former Virginia quarterback and current wide receiver coach Shawn Moore.
Virginia's 2012 class includes a 26th prospect, 6-foot-5, 215 pound quarterback Greyson Lambert, who is already enrolled at the University. Lambert, who is from Jesup, Ga., is ranked as the No.9 quarterback prospect in the country according to scout.com.
