Junior first baseman Danni Ingraham hit a solo home run in Virginia's 7-5 loss to Louisville.

In its last regular season series, Virginia dropped two out of three games to Louisville, giving the Cardinals (28-18, 11-8 ACC) the series, and bringing the Cavaliers’ (22-31, 9-15 ACC) seven-game winning streak to an end.

In the first game of the series, the Cavaliers fell to the Cardinals, 7-5. Virginia was winning the game, 5-3, going into the sixth inning, but then the Cardinals produced four runs in the sixth to claim the lead. The five runs for Virginia came from a two-run single from senior shortstop Madison Labshere and solo home runs from senior catcher Katie Park, junior first baseman Danni Ingraham and sophomore outfielder and pitcher Lacy Smith.

Louisville clinched the series Saturday with an 11-3 win over the Cavaliers. The Cardinals jumped out to an early 7-0 lead, which proved too big of a difference for Virginia to make up. Five of Louisville’s first seven runs came in the third inning. The Cavaliers responded in the top of the fourth by adding two runs to the scoreboard off of an RBI double from senior outfielder Iyana Hughes. Virginia added another run to the score in the fifth as Ingraham picked up an RBI double. However, in that same inning, the Cardinals picked up four runs when it was their turn to step up to the plate. The big inning for Louisville was enough for the run-rule to come into play and to give the Cardinals the victory.

With the series already belonging to Louisville, Virginia rebounded from the previous day's losses to pick up a 7-3 win. Both teams put up two runs in the first inning, and the tied score kept until Louisville plated a run in the bottom of the fourth. In the fifth, Ingraham hit a three-run homer, which was her 10th of the season, to help the Cavaliers reclaim the lead. Virginia added another two runs in the fifth, making the score 7-3, which was the final score for the game.

Next, the Cavaliers compete in the quarterfinals of the ACC tournament May 11 in Chapel Hill, N.C., where they will take on top-seeded Florida State.
