A plane crash Sunday evening in western Albemarle County ended with the death of the pilot — positively identified Wednesday afternoon by the Office of the Medical Examiner as Kent Carr, a 51-year-old resident of Staunton, Va. The crash occurred around 9 p.m. off Saddle Hollow Road near Crozet.
The investigation found no other passengers, according to state police spokesperson Corinne Geller. Geller said the aircraft was a privately-owned, 1996 twin-engine Cessna.
She added the investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board is ongoing.
