A University-wide email alert issued to students announced that University police were investigating a “suspicious package” found at the Medical School.

The University’s Medical Research Building 4 was evacuated Monday afternoon after a “suspicious package” was found near the lab’s loading dock around 1:45 p.m, according to a University-wide email alert issued to students. Nearly an hour later, the suspicious package was determined not to be a threat.

The University Police Department says the incident is all clear and normal operations can resume.

The Medical Research Building 4 — located near the U.Va. Hospital on Lane Road — houses Department of Neuroscience laboratories and faculty offices.

This is a developing story.
