No. 21 freshman Natasha Subhash cruised in her match against Michigan, defeating No. 35 Giulia Pairone in straight sets.

After competing in Chicago for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, No. 13 Virginia was back in action in Charlottesville Saturday to take on No. 12 Michigan at the Boar's Head Sports Club. Both the Cavaliers (7-2, 1-0 ACC) and the Wolverines (4-4, 0-0 Big Ten) won one game and lost two in the National Team Indoor Championships.

Virginia continued its dominance on the doubles side to begin the match after juniors Vivian Glozman and Rosie Johanson finished first, prevailing 6-2. Although sophomore Sofia Munera and freshman Natasha Subhash fell, No. 59 senior Chloe Gullickson and sophomore Amber O’Dell won the decisive third doubles match to give the Cavaliers the early lead. The team has now won eight of nine doubles points this season.

In the singles matches, Virginia doubled their lead after No. 21 Subhash defeated No. 35 senior Giulia Pairone in straight sets. The Wolverines managed to claw their way back after Michigan senior Chiarra Lommer defeated No. 87 Munera 6-3, 6-4. However, No. 55 Johanson defeated Michigan freshman Nicole Hammond 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 in a grueling three-set match to give the Cavaliers a 3-1 lead over Michigan.

In the fourth and final singles match, Glozman downed No. 94 Alyvia Jones 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 to secure victory for Virginia. Gullickson and O’Dell were both in the third set of their respective matches when the Cavaliers clinched victory.

With this win, Virginia secures its fourth win against a ranked opponent. The Cavaliers will be back in action Friday against Georgia Tech in Atlanta. Matches are set to start at 4 p.m.
