A robbery was reported at 1215 Lee Street, the location of the University Hospital, after an unknown man stole cash from someone standing outside the building. The incident was reported at 5:11 p.m. Sunday and was shared in a community alert by Timothy Longo, associate vice president for safety and security and chief of University police.
The suspect was wearing a blue polo and tan pants when he committed the theft and was seen heading towards the intersection of Jefferson Park Avenue and West Main Street. He is not armed.
“Community alerts” are shared with the University community when there is sufficient and timely information that can be released to the community without compromising any on-going investigations. “Timely warnings” are sent when crimes committed pose an “on-going threat” to the safety of the community.”
This is the second timely warning sent since students arrived for the fall semester. The previous timely warning, concerning shots fired behind The Standard apartment complex, was sent just over a week ago on Aug. 21.
