Third-year student Mike Hollins has been discharged from U.Va. Health, per a tweet from his mother and a press statement from U.Va. Health public information officer Eric Swensen Monday morning. Second-year student Marlee Morgan was discharged earlier this week.

“This has truly been a test of faith and I’m thankful,” Mike’s mother Brenda Hollins wrote on Twitter. “Please continue praying for Mike as he recovers and settles into his new life.”

Both Hollins and Morgan were hospitalized following Sunday’s shooting – Hollins for life-threatening injuries and Morgan for non-life threatening. Hollins has since undergone two surgeries. Three additional students — second-year student Devin Chandler, third-year student Lavel Davis and fourth-year student D'Sean Perry  — were shot fatally. All three were members of the Virginia football team, along with Hollins.

The University has since requested an independent external review of its response to Sunday’s events and its assessment of the suspect prior to the tragedy. A memorial service was also held at John Paul Jones Arena Sunday to celebrate the lives of Davis, Perry and Chandler.

“We will find strength in the resilience and bravery of Marlee and Mike,” University President Jim Ryan said during Sunday’s memorial.

Suspect Christopher Darnell Jones Jr. was taken into custody Nov. 14 after a search that lasted nearly 12 hours and is being held without bail at Albemarle County Regional Jail, where he awaits a Dec. 8 status hearing. Jones has been charged with three counts of second-degree murder and three counts of possession of a handgun in the commission of a felony.
