Shots fired incident reported on 500 block of 12th Street NW

The Charlottesville Police Department responded to a shots fired incident Friday at approximately 8:27 p.m. on the 500 block of 12th St. NW, per a community alert sent by Timothy Longo, chief of the University Police Department and vice president for security and safety.

Upon arrival at the scene, police discovered shell casings and two unoccupied vehicles that had been shot. No injuries were reported, and the suspect has not been identified.

This is the second community alert of December, following a burglary Dec. 16. 

Community alerts are shared via email to the University community when there is timely information about a threat that can be released to the community without compromising any ongoing investigations. Timely warnings are issued when there is an ongoing threat to the community.
