Celebrating 50 years of the Downtown Mall
This summer, Charlottesville is celebrating the Downtown Mall’s 50th anniversary. To mark the occasion, I created a collection of black-and-white photographs capturing some of my favorite places and everyday moments from my three years as a student here. From familiar storefronts to quiet scenes along the Mall, these images reflect the spaces and experiences that have shaped my time in Charlottesville. By removing color, the photographs take on a timeless quality, inviting viewers to imagine them as scenes from today or from 50 years ago.
