The Virginia women’s club rugby team has been around for over 50 years, and the Division I-AA team has built upon their foundations to perform extremely well in recent fall seasons. The Cavaliers have consistently progressed to the quarter finals and semi finals of the Women’s National Collegiate Rugby Championships.
For the Virginia squash programs, the Arlen Specter US Squash Center has become the site of a yearly test of the Cavaliers’ status as a national powerhouse against the sport's historic elite. This weekend, the No. 4 men (13-6, 3-1, MASC) and No. 6 women (13-7, 4-2, MASC) navigated a gauntlet of competition at the CSA Team Championships to secure their sixth and fifth consecutive top-eight national finishes, respectively.

Last Women’s History Month provoked discussion of Drew Hancock’s “Companion,” a lens through which to view men’s wrongdoings in the female exploitation subgenre of horror. Such dialogue felt, briefly, like the start of a broader commitment to women in cinema — one that might even survive into April — but what followed instead was a year remarkably unified in its focus, because 2025 was a year for the man.
College baseball is a volatile sport. Just this Wednesday, Virginia got mercy ruled by a mid-major team in a midweek contest. Fast forward to this weekend, and the Cavaliers (13-3, 2-1 ACC) just won two of three games against No. 8 North Carolina in their house.

No. 20 Virginia (22-2, 2-1 ACC) won its ACC opening series over North Carolina, two games to one — throughout it all, the Cavaliers were led by outstanding performances from their stars, junior infielders Bella Cabral and Macee Eaton and senior infielder Jade Hylton.
An analysis from the University’s Office of Institutional Research and Analytics shows a steady increase in undergraduate cumulative grade point averages over the past 15 years at the University. This reflects a broader pattern known as grade inflation — where students are awarded higher grades on average without a corresponding increase in academic performance. The University’s spring term data from 2010-25 show the overall mean GPA climbing from roughly 3.24 to approximately 3.61, with a notable jump between 2019 and 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the undergraduate GPA average at the University has stabilized at approximately 3.60.
The University entered into a settlement agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice Oct. 22, agreeing to comply with federal guidance after receiving accusations of unlawful discrimination in admissions and hiring. The deal involves no monetary penalties, but it does require the University to submit quarterly compliance reports through 2028 to demonstrate adherence to federal civil rights law.
There is no denying that Virginia received a punch in the mouth when it suffered a shutout, mercy-rule loss to Charlotte Tuesday. Similarly, there is no doubt that the team responded effectively with an 8-1 win Wednesday.
