The No. 14 men’s swim team finished its season Saturday, March 25 at the NCAA Championship meet at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis. The Cavaliers (5-2, 4-1 ACC) end the season on a high note, with many swimmers posting extremely fast times.

After a successful regular season, the Virginia men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams began its final meet of the season this week in Indianapolis, Ind. After the No. 8 women’s team placed second in their ACC championship meet, the No. 14 men’s team followed up the performance with a sixth-place finish at the ACC championship meet.

After a week of hard training, the Virginia men’s and women’s swim teams both fell short of victory in last weekend’s matchup with North Carolina State. The No. 13 Cavalier men’s team (5-2, 4-1 ACC) lost to No. 3 NC State, 177-109, while the No. 5 Virginia women’s team (6-1, 4-1 ACC) fell short to No. 9 NC State (3-1, 1-1 ACC) by a close margin of 153-147.

After a lengthy break, the Virginia swimming and diving teams returned to action this past weekend against in-state rival Virginia Tech. The No. 13 men’s team (3-1, 2-0 ACC) won by a score of 199 to 154, while the No. 5 women’s team (4-0, 2-0 ACC) defeated their opponents 225 to 123.

The Virginia swim and dive teams continued their seasons this past weekend against Big Ten foes Michigan and Penn State. The No. 6 women’s team (3-0, 1-0 ACC) swept the competition, defeating No. 1 Michigan (2-1, 1-0 Big Ten) and Penn State (1-3, 0-1 Big Ten) by scores of 196.5-156.5 and 266-87, respectively. The No. 25 Cavalier men (2-1, 1-0 ACC) found success against Penn State (1-3, 0-1 Big Ten), winning 236-115, but lost to Michigan (3-0, 1-0 Big Ten) by a score of 203-140.

The Virginia swim and dive teams started their seasons off strong two Fridays ago, as both the men’s and women’s teams defeated ACC opponent Pittsburgh. The women’s team came out on top, 187-108, while the men won, 186.5-108.5 In addition, the Cavaliers took first in 27 out of 28 swimming events.

The Virginia men’s soccer team returned home to Charlottesville this week after a two-game road trip, where they played in-state rival James Madison and ACC powerhouse No. 21 Wake Forest. After defeating the Dukes (0-4-1, 0-0-1 CAA) 3-1, the Cavaliers (2-1-1, 0-1 ACC) lost to the Demon Deacons (4-1-0, 1-0 ACC) on an overtime goal by a score of 0-1.
