This past weekend saw Virginia track and field travel to Eugene, Ore. for the NCAA Outdoor Championships, sending a total of 11 athletes — eight men and three women — to represent the Cavaliers from Wednesday to Saturday. The men’s team finished eighth overall with a total of 26 points, while the women’s team finished 40th overall with 5 points. The weekend also saw six Cavaliers become First Team All-Americans and four become Honorable Mention All-Americans.

Last week saw Virginia track and field travel to Lexington, Ky. from Wednesday to Saturday to compete in the NCAA East Regional. Many Cavaliers were seeking to punch their tickets to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which are set to be held in Eugene, Ore. June 5 to June 8.

This past weekend was a busy one for Virginia track and field — from Thursday to Saturday Virginia brought its best to compete in the Penn Relays, one of the biggest stages in collegiate track and field. At the Virginia High Performance meet Sunday the Cavaliers once again scored some excellent performances back home in Charlottesville. In an exciting couple of days, the Cavaliers set multiple personal-best times, broke school records and became ranked collegiately and globally.

This past weekend saw Virginia track and field stay home in Charlottesville to host the Virginia Challenge Friday and Saturday. The event was filled with Cavaliers making it onto Virginia all-time lists and recording personal bests and was highlighted by junior Nathan Mountain toppling the Virginia steeplechase record and running the “A” cut for the upcoming Olympic Trials. The weekend was wrapped up with a Senior Day celebration Saturday that honored the team’s graduating athletes.

Virginia track and field sent their sprinting, jumping and throwing talent to High Point, N.C. Friday and Saturday to compete in the Vertklasse Meeting. The Cavaliers showed some good form, recording meet records and personal bests in a performance that indicates the team is continuing to round into form as the outdoor season heats up.

Having just kicked off the outdoor season March 23 at the Virginia Opener, Virginia track and field brought nothing short of its best to one of the largest and most stacked collegiate meets in the country — the Raleigh Relays. From Thursday to Saturday in Raleigh, N.C., the Cavaliers recorded four school records and 23 personal bests.

Virginia track and field sent four individual competitors and a pair of relay teams to compete in the NCAA Indoor Championships in Boston, Mass. over the weekend. Their efforts saw both great disappointment and incredible success, but what remained consistent was the grit with which all the Cavaliers competed.

Virginia track and field was back in action this weekend on its biggest stage yet this season — the ACC Indoor Championships. The Cavaliers posted impressive individual and team performances, finishing on the podium in a great many events and continuing to break program records. From this weekend it is apparent that Virginia only continues to improve — the Cavalier men placed fifth overall in the championship with a total of 64 points, and the women finished seventh with a 50.5 point total.

Virginia track and field competed in three separate meets for the second consecutive weekend, taking to the track and the field at the Arkansas Qualifier and Terrier DMR Challenge Friday and the Virginia Tech Challenge Friday and Saturday. The Cavaliers put down numerous great indoor performances, as their fans have become accustomed to, and if this weekend’s showing is any indication of what’s to come, they will provide stiff competition at the ACC Championships next weekend.

Virginia track and field was back in action Friday and Saturday, this time representing the Cavaliers across three different meets — the Eagle Elite Invitational and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston and the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C. Virginia only continued to climb as it broke school and personal records, some of which the Cavaliers had just set the previous week, showcasing excellent momentum as they set their sights on the ACC Indoor Championships next week.

Virginia swimming and diving was back in action at the Aquatic & Fitness Center Friday and Saturday, kicking off its first meet of the calendar year in hugely impressive fashion. The Cavaliers set facility records, marked nation-leading times and — in the case of junior Gretchen Walsh — swam the fastest times in history over two events. From this team, it would be remiss to expect anything less.

Last weekend saw No. 5 Virginia field hockey travel to College Park, Md. for the first and second rounds of the 2023 NCAA championship, facing off against No. 13 Saint Joseph’s Friday and No. 4 Maryland Sunday. Friday afternoon saw the Cavaliers (13-6, 3-3 ACC) edge out the Hawks (16-5, 7-0 A 10) 2-1, followed by a dominant 4-0 shutout victory Sunday against the Terrapins (17-6, 6-2 Big 10). These wins mean that Virginia has secured a place in the NCAA semifinals for the sixth time in program history.

Virginia swimming and diving stunned the collegiate swimming world with their star-studded group of new additions to the men’s team — declaring ‘The Revolution is Here’, the Cavaliers announced a new class that includes four of the nation’s top-15 recruits in the high school class of 2025, with the full group being touted by Virginia as the ‘Savage 7’. Leading the class are No. 1 and No. 2 recruits Thomas Heilman and Maximus Williamson.

Friday afternoon saw No. 7 Virginia field hockey host No. 2 North Carolina on Turf Field in Charlottesville. The Cavaliers (10-5, 3-3 ACC) took a momentous 3-2 victory over the Tar Heels (12-3, 5-1 ACC) in dramatic fashion, coming back from a two-point deficit at halftime to score three goals within seven minutes in the third quarter. The win was extra special for Virginia fans as it came on Senior Day and a celebration of the program’s 50th anniversary.

Over the past six years, Virginia Swimming and Diving has emerged from relative obscurity to a national powerhouse under the guidance of newly minted Olympic Women’s Coach Todd DeSorbo. They are now the favorite to sweep the NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships next March.

No. 8 Virginia field hockey hosted No. 4 Duke at Turf Field in Charlottesville Friday afternoon. Though the nail-biter resulted in the Blue Devils (11-1, 4-0 ACC) edging out the Cavaliers (7-5, 1-3 ACC) 2-1 with just over three minutes left on the clock in overtime.

Last Sunday saw No. 5 Virginia field hockey travel to Oxford, Ohio for a matchup against No. 26 Miami on the final leg of its road trip. Adding a third shutout victory to this season’s record, the Cavaliers (7-4, 1-2 ACC) played a strong offensive game to triumph 2-0 against the RedHawks (8-5, 3-0 MAC).
