The building will feature a 1,100-plus-seat concert hall, a 150-seat recital hall, spaces for experimental art and rehearsal studios. Old Cabell Hall’s auditorium currently has a capacity of 851 people.
Goals include enhancing contextual information provided to inform tuition setting, a guaranteed tuition plan and assessing how changes to tuition and fees are communicated to students and families.
The conference center will house guest lecturers, alumni, and other visitors to the University and will also include the largest meeting space in Charlottesville at 10,000 square feet.
The main message Ryan emphasized regarding the University’s current COVID-19 policies — vaccines are effective and important in keeping the community safe.
The Committee will also vote on the state six-year institutional plan, biennial budget requests — including increasing the minimum wage for work study students — endowment spending policy, strategic investment fund guidelines and quasi-endowment action.
Though more than 90 percent of faculty are vaccinated, many have children who cannot be as vaccines have not yet been approved for those under the age of 12.
