No. 2 Duke overpowers No. 8 Virginia at home, 17-15

The No. 8 Virginia men’s lacrosse team has been in a slump ever since its win against Syracuse March 1. In an effort to turn its season around and qualify for the ACC Tournament against No. 2 Duke — a team that has given them troubles in the past — the high-octane Blue Devil offense overpowered the Cavaliers, 17-15.

Men’s lacrosse seeks elusive win against No. 2 Duke

After losing in the final minutes in last weekend’s game against ACC rival No. 4 North Carolina, the No. 8 Virginia men’s lacrosse team returns home to face No. 2 Duke in the Cavaliers’ last chance of the season to improve its ACC regular season record.

Cavaliers top Blue Jays in overtime, 11-10

The 10th-ranked Virginia men’s lacrosse team snapped its two game losing streak Saturday, defeating No. 11 Johns Hopkins. The Cavaliers trailed the Blue Jays for the majority of the second half, but were able to force overtime thanks in large part to a brilliant performance by freshman goalkeeper Matt Barrett, who made 16 saves.

No. 7 Men’s lacrosse unbeaten streak ended

The No. 7 Virginia men’s lacrosse team dropped its first two games of the season over the break, falling to No. 15 Cornell and No. 11 Notre Dame. The Cavaliers now sit at 6-2 overall and an even 1-1 in conference play.

Growing pains

The University of Richmond played its first-ever NCAA Division I men’s lacrosse game Saturday, as 4,249 fans packed Robins Stadium in Richmond, Va. to watch the Spiders host No. 7 Virginia. The crowd was representative of the sport’s rapid growth in the United States in recent years.


	Sophomore attackman James Pannell scored a career-high seven goals Saturday to lead the No. 4 Cavaliers to a 17-12 win against No. 8 Syracuse.

No. 7 Cavaliers spoil Spiders' debut, 13-12

The seventh-ranked Virginia men’s lacrosse team spoiled the Richmond Spiders’ inaugural Division I game Saturday by way of a tight 13-12 victory. With the victory, the Cavaliers remained undefeated, moving to 2-0 on the season.
