Field hockey falls to No. 1 Syracuse in ACC semi-final

The Cavaliers (14-5, 3-3 ACC) mounted an improbable comeback in the closing minutes of the game to send the game to overtime, but Syracuse junior forward Emma Russell buried a shot six minutes into the period to send the Orange to the ACC Championship.

Sophomore Tara Vittese scored both of the game's two goals in the second half against James Madison.

No. 7 field hockey shuts out JMU, 2-0

The seventh-ranked Virginia field hockey team (13-4, 3-3 ACC) closed out regular season play with a win at in-state rival James Madison. Despite outshooting the Cavaliers 19-13, the No. 17 Dukes (12-5, 5-0 CAA) were unable to find the back of the net.

Sophomore midfielder Tara Vittese scored twice in the win against the Cardinals. She leads Virginia in scoring this season. 

​Field Hockey knocks off No. 11 Louisville, edges Miami, Ohio

The sixth-ranked Virginia field hockey team disposed of its third ranked opponent of the season and took care of business against unranked Miami, OH to improve to 5-0. The Cavaliers traveled to No. 11 Louisville Friday and came out victorious by a score of 4-3, then edged the RedHawks, 1-0, Sunday.
