Honor multi-sanction referenda on student election ballot

Honor Committee elections and referenda voting open online Friday. In addition to electing representatives, students will have the opportunity to vote on the referenda to change the current Honor single-sanction system. The referenda are comprised of three proposal — the first two are binding constitutional amendments and the third is non-binding.


A Virginia House subcommittee tabled the measure.

Virginia House tables LGBTQ bill

A Virginia House General Laws subcommittee tabled Senate Bill 785, a motion which would have protected lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender public employees from discrimination in the workplace. Though the bill passed the Senate with bipartisan support, it now cannot be considered for the remainder of the session.

Vigil held to honor Chapel Hill victims

University students held a vigil Sunday night to honor the lives of three Chapel Hill students shot last week in an apartment near campus. The victims have been identified as 23-year-old Deah Shaddy Barakat, his 21-year-old wife, Yusor Mohammad, and her sister, 19-year-old Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha. 


Pacific Group Resorts will lease and manage Wintergreen Resort.

Wintergreen resort sold

EPR Properties purchased the Virginia resort Wintergreen on Thursday from James C. Justice II. The four season resort will be leased by and managed by Pacific Group Resorts, a company which currently owns and operates the New Hampshire Ragged Mountain Resort and the Maryland Wisp Resort.
