Volleyball drops two matches at home

Despite the optimism for a big weekend series that mounted in a solid week of practice, the Virginia Volleyball team wasn’t able to pull out a win. The team lost in straight sets to both No. 12 Florida State on Friday and Miami on Saturday.


Senior running back Taquan "Smoke" Mizzell was one of the few bright spots on a rough day for Virginia's offense, as the team totaled just 253 yards from scrimmage.

​Offensive struggles continue against Tar Heels

Junior linebacker Micah Kiser snatched the football from North Carolina near midfield, giving junior quarterback Kurt Benkert and his Virginia offense a chance to level the score at 14 with 13:34 left in the third, but the Cavaliers (2-5, 1-2 ACC) faltered on another third down and saw the game get away from them.

BLANK: Soccer's sustained success

Men’s soccer is not new to being a national powerhouse, but that doesn’t make the results any less impressive. Since 1990, Virginia has made it to the ACC Championship 17 times, with both more appearances and championships than any other team.


Virginia plays at Richmond Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. The Cavaliers’ game against Louisville is set for Friday at 5:30 p.m. in Charlottesville.

The No. 10 Virginia field hockey team is looking to win its third straight game, and seven of its last eight when they play Richmond Tuesday. The win would add to a strong stretch of play for the Cavaliers (10-5, 3-2 ACC).
