No. 1 baseball stays undefeated

Virginia rolled to a 9-1 victory in their first game against Marist. Junior Nathan Kirby (2-0, 0.73 ERA) started the game on the hill and pitched 5.1 innings of one-run ball while striking out nine. The Cavaliers sprinted out of the blocks and never looked back.

Women's basketball dominates Hokies, 73-59

In a tale of two halves, the Virginia women’s basketball team snapped a four-game losing skid with a 73-59 win over Virginia Tech at home Sunday afternoon. The win adds a half-point to the Cavaliers’ total in the Commonwealth Clash. The Cavaliers have also now won 18-straight against the Hokies.

The Virginia women’s basketball team led for over 39 minutes against Pittsburgh but could not close out to lose its fourth straight game, 68-63 Thursday night at the Petersen Events Center.

No. 7 Virginia earns first win over Richmond

The No. 7 Virginia women’s lacrosse team won its first game of the season Wednesday afternoon 14-6 against Richmond. The Spiders saved 12 of Virginia’s shots, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Virginia offense, which had a total of 36 shots.

Evaluating the Justin Anderson-less Virginia offense

When the Virginia basketball team lost junior guard Justin Anderson to a finger injury a week and a half ago, I wasn’t sure what to think. Obviously losing a player ranked second on the team in points per game and third in minutes per game is not a positive. But given our system-based offense and defense, I was hopeful the damages would be minimal.
