Rowing caps fall season with victories at Rivanna Romp

The Virginia women’s rowing team capped its fall season in style Sunday morning on the Rivanna Reservoir, registering a pair of wins at the Rivanna Romp. The host Cavaliers — dominant at the regatta over the past decade — posted multiple standout times in both the Varsity Eights and Varsity Four races.

​Cavaliers fall short in ITA Nationals

Despite fielding the top seed in both the men’s and women’s singles brackets, both Virginia women’s and men’s tennis came up empty-handed in the ITA/USTA National Indoors this past weekend in Flushing, New York, as none of the six Cavalier qualifiers of the prestigious tournament made it past their quarterfinal matches in the men’s or women’s draws against the stacked field of national opponents.

Old habits finish off rough football season

Virginia traveled to Louisville with their backs against the wall — needing a perfect 3-0 finish to gain bowl eligibility. The Cavaliers (3-7, 2-4 ACC) put up a noble fight against the Cardinals (6-4, 5-2 ACC), but in the end Virginia’s demons came back to haunt them in a 38-31 defeat.


Since rejoining her teammates Oct. 26, Sonnett has guided the Cavaliers to a 3-1 record and a No. 1 seed entering the NCAA Tournament.

​Sonnett wins ESPNW 2015 Soccer Player of the Year

Wednesday evening, ESPNW announced Virginia senior center back Emily Sonnett won its 2015 Soccer Player of the Year award. Sonnett anchors a Cavalier defense that has allowed an average of only .58 goals per game and amassed 12 shutouts through 19 matches.
