The next Big Thing: SlamBall

Now petitioning the NCAA for a new intercollegiate sport: SlamBall.I need to give a shout-out to my buddies Nolan and Tahlor for telling me about this sport, which is played on a modified basketball court that features Plexiglas boards, like in hockey, and four trampolines arranged to cover the area inside the three-point line.

Halloween horror

Being a sports fan is never easy. As a Virginia Cavaliers football fan and Dallas Cowboys fan, the performance of these two teams was scarier than anything else I witnessed this Halloween weekend.Virginia had a chance to strengthen its hold on the Coastal Division and definitely let a win slip through its grasp Saturday.

Cavs suit up for hurricane on the field

After Virginia?s come-from-behind win against then-No. 18 Georgia Tech last Saturday, the Cavaliers have become the epitome of the phrase ?from worst to first.? After an abysmal start to the season, the Cavaliers (5-3, 3-1 ACC) now hold the top spot in the ACC Coastal Division.

Team hopes to tame Tigers, stomp Jackets in weekend home matches

After an up-and-down weekend, befitting of the first half of their ACC season, the Cavaliers will kick off the second half of their schedule against Clemson and Georgia Tech this weekend.The Cavaliers (13-10, 5-6 ACC) rank ninth of 12 in the parity-filled ACC this year, while Clemson and Georgia Tech rank third and fifth, respectively.

Monroe, Sintim projected 2009

It seems like this won?t change at next year?s draft. Two Virginia seniors, offensive tackle Eugene Monroe and outside linebacker Clint Sintim, are projected by many mock 2009 NFL Drafts to go in the first round; Monroe is often listed in the top five.
