Cavaliers prepare for Warrick

Dwayne Stukes couldn't help it. As he spent his bye week watching top-ranked Florida State flounder in Death Valley, one thought kept crossing his mind: Peter Warrick looked rusty. The Seminoles' premier playmaker missed the two contests prior to Clemson while his attorneys struck a plea bargain to reduce a felony theft charge to a misdemeanor and get the Hesiman contender back on the field. Evidently a rusty Warrick -- 121 yards against the Tigers on a career-best 11 catches, is slightly different than than the normal definition of a struggling wideout.

Crew finishes strong at Head of the Charles

Women's rowing pulled its way to a top five finish in the four events in which they competed at the Charles Regatta in Boston, a rowing competition that includes collegiate, national teams and others. Among collegiate teams, the Cavs finished second behind Southern Cal and fifth overall in the Championship Eight.

Volleyball posts clean sweeps of FSU, Duke

The Virginia volleyball team disposed of the two worst teams in the ACC this weekend in workmanlike fashion to extend their games-won streak to nine, and take their third straight match. The Cavaliers (15-6, 8-3 ACC) first swept last-place Florida State 15-8, 15-13, 15-5 Friday.

Stockton enters Trinity Hall of Fame

Virginia men's tennis coach Dick Stockton will be one of 10 people inducted into the Trinity University Athletic Hall of Fame today. Stockton capped a stellar career at Trinity by winning the NCAA Singles Championship and grabbing his fourth All-American selection as he led his team to an NCAA title in 1972.

When second-year midfielder Steve Totten entered the University and joined the men's soccer team last fall, everyone expected him to do well, but even the greatest of optimists could not have predicted the New Jersey native's spectacular play so early in his career.
