For the four seniors of the No. 4 Virginia women’s tennis team, upsetting top-ranked Duke at home, reaching a program-best No. 3 ranking twice and looking ahead to a potentially deep postseason run are just some of the highlights of their final season. As the younger players continue to be the faces of another successful season, these veteran players play a major behind-the-scenes role in helping the team strive in ways not always visible on the court.
The No. 5 Virginia men’s tennis team hosts No. 23 Wake Forest and No. 32 North Carolina State on Friday and Saturday for their final home matches of the regular season. With wins over both squads this weekend, the Cavaliers (17-2, 8-0 ACC) would clinch at least a share of the regular season ACC title for an unprecedented 11th consecutive year.
The No. 9 Virginia women’s tennis team extended its winning streak to six matches by sweeping senior weekend with victories against No. 27 Georgia Tech and No. 15 Clemson.
Friday, the No. 4 Virginia men’s tennis team narrowly avoided an upset bid from No. 17 Clemson before ultimately prevailing, 4-3. The team then cruised to a 7-0 victory the next day against Georgia Tech.

The No. 7 Virginia men’s tennis team traveled to the state of North Carolina this weekend for a pair of ACC matches, handily defeating No. 6 North Carolina 7-0 and No. 13 Duke 5-1.
The Skinny: Following a tight 4-3 loss to No. 3 UCLA, the Cavaliers travel to North Carolina for a pair of matches against ACC rivals the Tar Heels and the Blue Devils.
The No. 5 Virginia women’s tennis team kept busy during spring break, battling four ranked opponents in matches at home and on the road.

The No. 2 Virginia men’s tennis team hits the road Thursday, travelling to Los Angeles for a pair of matches against No. 3 UCLA and Loyola Marymount. The Cavaliers defeated No. 13 Baylor and No. 9 Notre Dame last weekend in Charlottesville, each by a score of 6-1, to bounce back from a 4-3 loss at the hands of No. 1 Ohio State in the ITA Indoor Semifinals.
Coming off its first loss in more than a year and half, the No. 10 Virginia men’s tennis team rebounded to take down both No. 8 Baylor and No. 6 Notre Dame with a score of 6-1, and shut out Liberty 10-0.

The Virginia men’s tennis team will return to the Snyder Tennis Center outdoor courts this weekend for the first time this year. The Cavaliers will play a slew of challenging contests, with a Saturday matchup against Baylor and Sunday matchups against Liberty and ACC foe Notre Dame.

The No. 10 Virginia women’s tennis team suffered its second loss of the season Saturday when the team’s comeback bid against No. 16 Alabama fell short, 4-3, in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

The No. 14 Virginia women’s tennis team continued its strong start to the season, trouncing No. 44 VCU and No. 33 South Carolina in Charlottesville this weekend. Virginia (3-0) easily defeated VCU 6-1 Friday before fighting for a 5-2 victory against the Gamecocks Sunday.
